A man stabbed his wife and was shot by a Westborough police officer on Friday. The officer has been identified as Sgt. Jonathan Kalagher.
The man has not yet been identified pending notification of family members.
As reported on Friday, the Westborough police were called to the Windsor Ridge apartment complex in the early afternoon, when the incident took place.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.’s office reports that the man stabbed his wife several times before she fled to a neighbor’s apartment. The man followed her there to continue the attack.
Upon arriving on the scene Sgt. Kalagher ordered the man to drop the knife several times before firing his weapon. The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The woman was also transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Sgt. Kalagher was not injured. He is currently on administrative leave in accordance with department policy.
