|WORCESTER – A photograph, a watercolor painting, a beautifully sculpted craft piece, or a delicious plate of food, Photographer Jan Puccelli, Artist/Owner of Jan Puccelli Photography, sees her work as a way of capturing a moment, an emotion, a mood, and preserving it forever in time. When Jan sat down to speak with us at This Week In Worcester, she shared her life long love of art, her work as a photographer and an entrepreneur, and her passion for Women’s Portraiture, which she sees as a positive, empowering role for women, and in line with the mission of Ladies Night Out Worcester.
Can you share with us a bit about your business and how you got started?
“I am a professional photographer. Currently, I work in all venues, commercial, fine art, portraiture and weddings. My goal is to specialize in Women’s Portraiture, because I feel as women we are nurturers. We take care of everyone else and sometimes forget about ourselves. I think to have a beautiful portrait for ourselves, and for future generations, is an important. In this age of cell phones, and so much digital imagery, we undervalue a beautiful printed portrait. I look at some of the beautiful portraiture that my mother had (her wedding pictures) or some of the pictures my mother-in-law had taken, and they are priceless memories and beautifully done. I have been a photographer for many years, and a couple of years ago went back to school to learn the business side of being a photographer.”
What brought you to Ladies Night Out Worcester and what do you like about it?
“I heard about Ladies Night Out Worcester last year and was intrigued, but was not able to attend. This year, I was thinking about attending when another vendor told me about their experience. I was inspired, and wanted to be a sponsor. I think having so many women in one room will be a great experience. I am looking forward to being in that energy.”
Where can people interested in purchasing your work, product, or service, find you?
“Currently, I have a small portrait studio in Gardner. You can contact me through my website: www.janpuccelli.com”
