For the sixth straight game, the team scoring first took away the win as the Buffalo Bisons won the final game of the series with the Worcester Red Sox (2-4) by a score of 4-1.

Worcester’s scheduled starting pitcher, Tanner Houck, reportedly has a sore flexor muscle. The team scratched him from the start in favor of Ryan Weber.

Weber threw 78 pitches and finished with a line of 3.1 IP, 5, hits, 4 runs, 1 earned run, 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

A fourth inning error by catcher Connor Wong extended that inning, when Buffalo scored three of its four runs.

Worcester got its only run in the sixth inning on a Jeter Downs single. Worcester’s four hits came with two from Downs and two from Yairo Munoz.

For the second straight night, the WooSox bullpen held Buffalo scoreless. Bobby Poyner, Kevin McCarthy and Kaleb Ort tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, striking out seven.

The Worcester Red Sox have a day off today before the first game ever at Polar Park on Tuesday, May 11 at 3:05 PM.
