With only a few weeks left of winter on the calendar and spring around the corner, people are getting antsy to spend some time outside — especially with so many of us cooped up inside during the pandemic.

The pandemic continues, but that won’t stop people enjoying the outdoors safely once the temperatures creep up to a bearable level.

And likely no one is looking forward to the sunshine and warm temps than people that have to work outside, like City of Worcester Parks Department employees, landscapers, pavers and more.

According to a new report from Lawnstarter.com, people that work outside in Worcester have it better than most. The report — 2021’s Best Cities for Outdoor Jobs — ranks Worcester in the top 100 cities for outdoor jobs.

Lawnstarter.com compared the 200 largest employment markets in the U.S. across 26 key factors — from outdoor job opportunities to cost of living to average daily temperature.

Overall, Worcester ranked #95 out of 200 cities and  ranked very well in work-life balance (#31) and safety (#39). The ranking that dragged Worcester closer to the middle of the pack was ranking nearly dead last in climate (#198). However, Worcester ranked well in outdoor job opportunities (#79) and affordability (#113) to level out the ranking and keep the city in the top 100.
