WORCESTER – Several local churches rallied together across Worcester on Saturday to offer residents support and services as part of their annual Day of Hope.

Stages were setup where musicians performed and tents were filled with groceries, clothing and other support services in multiple locations across Worcester and central Massachusetts.

Those who attended were offered access to basic necessities such as food, mental and spiritual health support and haircuts free of charge.

Over 20 churches and 30 other community groups are a part of the Hope for Worcester coalition which organized the event. The groups mission statement claims their goal is connect members of the community with each other and to help make sure their neighbors can be relieved from the pressures of the day.

Locations where events were held for the day included the Belmont AME Zion Church in Main South, the Living World Church on Lincoln Street, Teen Challenge in downtown Worcester, Elm Park and the House of Destiny Church in Southbridge. Hundreds of families from across the city came out to the locations to enjoy the festivities and make use of the services being provided.
