WORCESTER – The Worcester Board of Health has voted to rescind the the mask mandate in Worcester, effective February 18. The board took up consideration of the mandate based on the recommendation of Worcester City Manager Ed Augustus.
Both Augustus and Medical Director Michael Hirsh testified at the hearing in support of rescinding the mandate.
The board voted to rescind the mandate by a 3 to 2 vote. Chareese Allen and Dr. Kahan Van Tran, MD. voted against lifting the mandate. Frances Anthes, Gary Rosen and Dr. Jerry Gurwitz voted to end the mandate.
