WORCESTER – The Worcester Fire Department announced it will host a memorial dedication for Lt. Jason “Jay” Menard on Nov. 13, on the five-year anniversary of his death in the line of duty.

The memorial unveiling will take place at the McKeon Road Fire Station, at 80 McKeon Rd., starting at 6 PM. Fire department and city officials are expected to attend.

Along with the memorial unveiling, there will be the striking of a memorial box and a wreath will be placed in the remembrance of Lt. Menard.

Menard died while responding to a four-alarm fire at 7 Stockholm Stt. as part of Ladder 5 from the McKeon Road Fire Station. He was 39 years old and married with three children at the time of his death.

Then Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie said that “Lieutenant Menard’s heroic actions saved the life of one of his crew members.”
