WORCESTER – Living in Worcester and planning on retiring here soon?

You may want to think about that again.

According to a recent study by the data experts at Wallethub, Worcester ranks #170 among 182 cities to retire in America.

The study — 2018’s Best & Worst Places to Retire — compared the retiree-friendliness of more than 180 U.S. cities across 46 key metrics. The study’s data set ranges from cost of living to retired taxpayer-friendliness to availability of recreational activities.

Worcester’s poor ranking, according to the report, can be attributed to its lack of affordability and its low rank in quality of life.

Among cities in New England, Worcester ranked only better than New Haven, Providence, Warwick and Bridgeport.
