Worcester Man Arrested for Firearm After Traffic Crash

WORCESTER – Police dispatched to Canterbury St. on Thursday, June 2, in response to a report of a man pointing a gun at another man.

Around 11 AM police arrived at the scene and learned from a witness that a man pointed a gun at another man’s head during a dispute over a minor automobile crash.

Police located a man on Southgate St. who matched the description given by the witness.

An officer identified Laqwon Brooks, 31, of Worcester, as matching the description provided by the witness.

According to police, Brooks gave evasive answers to questions by officers. The witness also identified Brooks as the man who pointed the gun. Police did not locate a firearm in Brook’s possession.

Officers searched the area where the incident occurred, on Canterbury St., and located a loaded brown handgun, as described by the witness. Officers determined that no one had been in the area after Brooks.

Brooks does not have a license to carry firearms. He faces charges of:

  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Use of a Firearm in a Felony
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License
  • Improper Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
