WORCESTER – A report by an elderly man of being the victim of fraud led to a two-month investigation and the arrest of a local man on larceny charges.
On August 3, Worcester Police responded to a call from an 80-year-old man at a residence on Main Street. The man reported thousands of dollars withdrawn from his bank account without permission. Police say it appeared someone used the man’s debit card in several locations.
The Worcester Police Detective Bureau investigated the case and, according to the Department, developed probable cause for the arrest of Robert Thayer, 48, of Worcester.
On Tuesday, October 5, detectives located Thayer in a vehicle near Southbridge Street and Madison Street. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and arrested him.
Thayer faces a charge of Larceny over $1,200 by a Single Scheme.
