WORCESTER – A 33-year-old Worcester man was arrested early Friday morning for dealing crack cocaine in the area of Main St. and Piedmont St.

Around 8:30 AM, officers with the Worcester PD Neighborhood Response Team observed Joselito Santiago Matias, of Merrick St, make a hand exchange of money with another male.

Matias reach into his pocket and appear to drop several small items to the ground. The other male picked up one of the items and inspected it, while Matias put the rest back in his pocket.

The transaction between the two men gave officers probable cause that a drug deal had taken place.

Once the other male disappeared from Matias’ sight, officers stopped him and discovered heroin. Officers stopped Matias and discovered twenty-seven bags of what appeared to be heroin and crack-cocaine.

Matias was placed under arrest for Distribution of a Class A Substance (2nd or subsequent offense), Possession with intent to Distribute of a Class A Substance (2nd or subsequent offense,) and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance (2nd or subsequent offense).

He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
