WORCESTER – Worcester Police and the Worcester Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Shawmut St. on Monday, March 29, leading to the arrest of a local man.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 10 PM and faced interference by a man later identified as Alberto Torres-Pinales, 40, of Worcester.
According to the Worcester Police Department, Torres-Pinales attempted to pull the fire hose away from firefighters. He eventually retreated to a white Jeep Cherokee as firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire.
Torres-Pinales pulled the Jeep up to the department’s fire hose as firefighters instructed him not to leave the scene. He drove over the fire hose and fled down Shawmut St., last to be seen on Merrick St.
Worcester Police tracked Torres-Pinales down at his Jefferson St. home and placed him under arrest. He faces charges of:
- Burning a Motor Vehicle
- Interfering with a Firefighter
- Driving over a Fire Hose without Consent of the Fire Department.
