Worcester Man Convicted of Rape and Kidnapping

WORCESTER – Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. announced a judge convicted a Worcester man of kidnapping and rape on Friday, March 19.

Edward Lacey, 41, of Worcester, elected a jury-waived trial that lasted four days. The judge convicted Lacey of two counts of rape, three counts of indecent assault and battery, strangulation, threat to commit a crime and assault and battery.

The judge found Lacey not guilty of assault with intent to murder. 

Shrewsbury Police arrested Lacey on May 12, 2018 and charged him with raping and assaulting a woman at the Worcester City Motel on Route 9 in Shrewsbury. A grand jury handed down the indictment on September 14, 2018.
