Worcester Man Faces Murder Charges in July 4 Shooting

WORCESTER – District Attorney Joseph Early has announced that the arraignment for a murder charge against Leroy Thompson, 25, of Worcester, will happen on Friday, July 10.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com previously reported, Thompson has already been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and improper storage of a firearm.

Joshua Lopez, 24, of Worcester, died Monday afternoon at a local hospital after being shot the day before while sitting in the backseat of a vehicle.

Investigators believe the dispute began over payment of a restaurant bill.
