Worcester Man Sentenced for Rape, Kidnapping

WORCESTER – Superior Court Judge David Ricciardone sentenced a local man convicted of rape and kidnapping to 21 to 24 years in state prison on Thursday, April 1.

Ricciardone convicted Edward Lacey, 41, of Worcester, after a four-day trial on March 19. Lacey waived his right to a jury trial.

Assistant District Attorney Lina Pashou asked the court to sentence Lacey to 33-35 years in prison.

Ricciardone convicted Lacey of Kidnapping, two counts of Rape, three counts of Indecent Assault and Battery, Strangulation, Threat to Commit a Crime and Assault and Battery.

The judge found Lacey not guilty of assault with intent to murder.

Shrewsbury Police arrested Lacey on May 12, 2018 on charges of raping and assaulting a woman at Worcester City Motel on Rt. 9 in Shrewsbury. A grand jury indicted Lacey on September 14, 2018.
