WORCESTER – The City of Worcester plans on planting 400 to 500 new trees in the spring.

The trees will be planted within on streets throughout the city, particularly in areas identified as heat islands and low canopy.

Property owners can request trees to be planted on their streets through the Worcester 311 system until Jan. 3, 2025. Requests made after that date will be prioritized based on the submittal date.

As part of the Parks Capital Improvement Program, trees will also be planted in city parks. The number of trees planted will be determined by this winter’s weather and how many can be planted by May 1, 2025.

Additionally, the Department of Public Works resurfacing program will plant new trees as part of the general resurfacing program.
