WORCESTER – The City of Worcester holds a vigil on International Overdose Awareness Day, Wednesday, Aug. 28, behind Worcester City Hall. The annual event is free and open to the public.
The annual International Overdose Awareness Day is Aug. 31, which falls on Saturday this year.
The City of Worcester Department of Health and Human Services hosts the event. Speakers include Mass. Department of Public Health (MDPH) Commissioner Robert Goldstein, Worcester Health and Human Services Commissioner Dr. Matilde Castiel, Mayor Joseph Petty, and City Manager Eric Batista, and others.
Local organizations will be on-site at 4 PM. The candle-lighting ceremony begins at 5 PM.
Attendees are invited to Pleasant Peace Park, at 374 Pleasant St., at the city overdose memorial after the vigil.
