WORCESTER – Three men were arrested on Monday evening on multiple firearm charges in the area of Beacon and Oread streets.
Wilfredo Reyes, 21, of 100 Granite Street, Jonathan Torres, 18, of 7601 Daffon Lane, Austin, Texas, and Anthony Corchado, 19 of 21 Marion Avenue, Worcester, were all arrested on unlawful firearm charges after the BMW they were traveling in was stopped for speeding on Beacon St.
According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], officers witnessed the BMW traveling north on Beacon St at a speed of 50 to 60 miles per hour. They pulled the vehicle over. Reyes was the driver of the vehicle and Torres and Corchado were passengers.
The three men were acting nervous and moving their arms and hands around when the officers approached the vehicle. After running background checks on all three men, officers found that Torres provided the wrong social security number to the officer, Corchado misspelled his last name and Reyes was a known member to a local gang.
The officers asked the three to get out of the vehicle and began searching for weapons on the three men before observing a backpack in the backseat. After removing the bag from the vehicle, the officers found a loaded High Point .380 semi-automatic handgun.
All three men were placed under arrest and charged with Unlawfully carrying a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a Firearm with defaced Serial Numbers and Possession of a Firearm with Defaced Serial Numbers while in the Commission of a Felony.
Reyes was also issued a citation for speeding. All three men will be arraigned Tuesday at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
