WORCESTER – Police officers on patrol recognized a man with outstanding warrants, leading to a foot pursuit and several additional charges.
Officers with the Neighborhood Response Team approached Gary Goyette, 27, of Worcester, at around 6:30 PM near Dorchester Street. Goyette first gave officers a fake name, then pushed an officer and ran.
According to Worcester Police, Goyette elbowed another officer in the face and reached for his waistband when next grabbed by an officer. Supporting officers controlled Goyette’s hands and placed him in custody.
Police say they recovered a folding knife from Goyette waistband.
Goyette has warrants for crimes from Armed Assault to Murder and multiple firearms charges. He faces additional charges, including:
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon While Disorderly
- Disorderly Conduct
- Disturbing the Peace
- Resisting Arrest
