WORCESTER – Worcester police officers responded to a reported break-in on Tuesday at a home on Piedmont Street.
According to the WPD, the victims of burglary informed the officers that their home was broken into and electronic devices and a small amount of cash was missing.
Luckily, the landlord of the property had several security cameras set up and WPD officers were able to see footage that captured the suspect committing the break-in and able to get a clear look of the suspect.
The suspect, later identified as 42-year-old Jesus Rivera of 59 Benefit Street, was seen on the camera climbing into a window and then later leaving a rear door carrying a bag. Rivera was inside the apartment for roughly 30 minutes.
Once identification was confirmed, officers now had probable cause to locate and place Mr. Rivera under arrest for the house break. On Wednesday, Oct. 11, at approximately 6:15 PM, investigators located Mr. Rivera at his home and placed him under arrest without incident. Mr. Rivera was charged with Breaking and Entering in the daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony and Larceny from a Building.
Mr. Rivera will be arraigned today at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
