Worcester Police Break Up Big Party on May St., Arrest 6

WORCESTER – Six people were arrested late Friday night after Worcester Police officers broke up a large party on May St.

Officers were called to the area of 46 May St. three times on Friday – at 9 PM, 10:40 PM and 11:58 PM — for a report of gunshots, a large fight, and a group of fifty young people arguing and talking about guns.

When officers arrived, they recognized several individuals with gang affiliations and heard them speaking about a firearm that was present. Officers witnessed individuals take a backpack and try to run away . Police then entered the residence to break up the large party.

The following people were arrested:

Luna Kona, 21 — was placed under arrest after officers located a loaded handgun in the backpack in her possession. She did not have a license to carry firearms or an FID card.

Kona is charged with Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, and Disorderly Conduct. Officers located a second firearm inside the residence.

Rashad Thomasson, 21 of Acton St. — arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Jason Rumrill, 19, of Seminole Dr. — arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.

Andrew Nguyen, 18, of Young St. — arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.

A 17-year-old was placed under arrest after pushing an office. He was charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Interfering with a Police Officer.

A second 17-year-old was placed under arrest after he tried to incite the crowd to prevent the first juvenile’s arrest by attacking the officers. He was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Interfering with a Police Officer.

All of the individuals who were arrested will be arraigned for court. The incident in which shots were fired is under investigation.
