WORCESTER – In the early hours of Monday morning, March 12, the Worcester Police Department responded to UMass Memorial Medical Center for a call about a 22-year-old gunshot victim.

Shortly after 3:14 AM, Worcester Police officers arrived to the hospital and met with the victim that was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the lower left leg.

According to the WPD, the victim, a known member of a local gang, refused to cooperate with the officers and detectives. The victim stated that the incident occurred in the Vernon Street area but would not give a specific location. The victim was also uncooperative with hospital staff.

Operation officers had searched Vernon Street but due to a lack of a specific location, a crime scene was not located.
