Worcester Police Shoot Armed Man after Bomb Threat

WORCESTER – A man with a firearm on Grafton St., who claimed to have a bomb, died after police shot the man in the early morning of Wednesday, April 21.

According to Spectrum News 1, police say the man had a rifle and was wearing body armor and a backpack. The man self-reported to 911 and claimed he had a bomb with another planted in the city.

The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad reported to the area but completed their work prior to 5 AM.

Police closed Grafton St. from Hamilton St. to the ramp to I-290 for several hours after the shooting.

The investigation by Worcester Police is ongoing.
