Worcester Pools, Spray Parks and Beaches to Open Monday, July 1

WORCESTER – The City of Worcester’s pools, spray parks and beaches will officially open on Monday, July 1.

The City will celebrate the openings with an event at Crompton Park Pool on Monday at 11:30 AM. 

At the event the City will provide information on summer aquatics programs — including free swimming lessons, and reviewing the importance of water safety and how to identity dangerous hazards and circumstances.

City Councilor-at-Large Gary Rosen, City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr., Parks Commissioner Robert Antonelli, Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie and HHS Commissioner Dr. Matilde Castiel will all speak at the event. 

The City of Worcester operates one pool, two spray parks and four beaches:

  • Crompton Park Pool (50 Canton Street)
  • Cristoforo Colombo/East Spray Park (180 Shrewsbury Street)
  • Greenwood Spray Park (14 Forsberg Street)
  • Bell Pond Beach (238 Belmont Street)
  • Indian Lake Beach (20 Clason Road)
  • John J. Binienda Memorial Beach (180 Mill Street)
  • Shore Park Beach (115 Shore Drive)

The city is also home to three state beaches and pools:

  • Dennis F. Shine Memorial Swimming Pool (146 Providence Street)
  • Quinsigamond State Park (10 N. Lake Ave.)
  • Veterans Memorial (Bennett Field) Swimming Pool (1270 Main Street)

ALL sites are open to the public 12 PM to 7 PM.

Free swim lessons will be offered at Crompton Park Pool – 7 weeks for ages 6-16 – July 8-August 23 – sessions at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM each week day, Monday thru Friday.

 

Important Dates:

  • The City’s pools, beaches and spray parks will open on Monday, July 1.
  • Pools and beaches are open until August 25.
  • Spray parks close on Labor Day – September 2.
