Worcester Man Faces Firearm, Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

WORCESTER - A driver reacting to seeing a police vehicle led to the arrest of a local man on firearm and drug charges on Wednesday, September 22.

A vehicle travelling on Providence Street moved quickly to take a sharp turn onto Winthrop Street upon seeing an officer at around 5:20 PM.

According to the Worcester Police Department, as officers approached the vehicle, the driver reached toward the floor of the vehicle as the passenger turned toward the driver. An officer issued orders for the occupants to show their hands and called additional officers to the scene.

The passenger, Quentin Smith, of Worcester, ignored police commands. Officers removed him from the vehicle.

Officers saw part of a firearm hanging out of Smith’s shorts and found it loaded and without a serial number. While booking Smith, officers discovered cocaine concealed in his sock.

The driver of the vehicle received a citation for a turn signal violation.

Smith faces charges of:

  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
  • Carrying a Firearm Without a License
  • Possession of Ammunition Without an Fid Card
  • Possession of Class B Substance
