WORCESTER – The Worcester Railers and five other teams in the ECHL North Division will suspend play for the 2020-21 ECHL season.

All players signed to all six teams become free agents for the 2020-21 season under the terms of the ECHL/PHPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Railers Owner Cliff Rucker said, “Moving forward, the Railers are committed to Worcester and will continue to be a large part of this community as we prepare to hit the ice again in October 2021.”

Earlier this year the ECHL announced a COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension policy that enables the option for teams to suspend play for the season.

The other teams in the North Division are Adirondack Thunder, Brampton Beast, Maine Mariners, Newfoundland Growlers, and Reading Royals.

Two other teams, Atlanta Gladiators and the Norfolk Admirals, announced voluntary suspension earlier this fall.
