WORCESTER – A recent study by the data experts at Wallethub have ranked Worcester among the top metro areas for STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – professionals.

Among the 100 largest metro areas in the United States, Worcester ranked #18 — largely thanks to its high ranking of #1 (tied with Boston and Springfield) of all metro areas for highest math performance.

The rankings — listed in 2018’s Best and Worst Metro Areas for STEM Professionals — were made up of three components – Professional Opportunities, STEM-Friendliness, and Quality of Life – and Worcester ranked #3 in STEM-Friendliness, contributing to the city’s high overall rank.

Per the study, the #1 metro area overall for STEM professionals was Seattle, followed by Boston at #2.
