RMV Planning to Move from Downtown Worcester Location

 by Patrick SargentNovember 22, 2019

WORCESTER - The Registry of Motor Vehicles in Worcester is exploring relocation options.
According to a report from Worcester News Tonight, the RMV in Worcester is looking to move on from its current location on Main St.

The Registry says the customer service center - -which was built in the early 1990 -- is deteriorated, but is in safe condition.
MassDot recently evaluated the facility and determined that the building would need a significant overhaul in order to continue serving customers. An upgrade of the existing property would cause major disruptions to the RMV's operations and could even require the facility to close for up a to year to complete renovations.
MassDot has reached out to the City to let them know they intend to keep the RMV in Worcester. They're working on scheduling a meeting to review options and get feedback from city officials.
