For Worcester residents without travel or vacation plans this summer, you may be in for a long few months.
According to the data experts at WalletHub, Worcester isn’t the best city for a stay0at-home vacation or “staycation.”
In their latest report — 2021’s Best & Worst Cities for Staycations — WalletHub ranks Worcester #140 out of 182 cities studied for their potential of a fun-filled, but wallet-friendly stay-at-home vacation.
WalletHub measured each city on 46 key indicators — ranging from parks per capita to restaurant-meal costs to the share of residents who are vaccinated. — across three categories: recreation, food & entertainment, and rest & relaxation. Worcester ranked in each of those categories #89, #155 and #115, respectively.
Among New England cities, Worcester did rank better than Nashua, NH; Lewiston, ME and Bridgeport, CT.
