WORCESTER – A Worcester towing company released information regarding the discovery of a body inside a van on Wednesday afternoon at their business on Park Ave.
As ThisWeekinWorcester.com previously reported, officers with the Worcester Police Dept. discovered the body inside a van at Early’s Towing at 536 Park Ave on June 5.
On Friday, June 7, Jim Early, an owner of Early’s on Park Avenue, Inc., posted on Facebook the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body at Early’s towing.
According to Early, a blue Chevrolet Express Van was towed from 645 Park Ave. in Worcester, to Early’s on Park Avenue, Inc.
The property owner at 645 Park Ave. called in for an abandoned vehicle that was left in the parking lot for nearly two weeks.
In his post, Early said the tow operator noticed “a large quantity of flies” at the rear of the van, followed by “an unbearable odor,” when he returned to the impound area at Early’s.
Early’s management made the decision to move the vehicle onto an adjacent parking lot and out of the view of the public and the Worcester PD was contacted.
When police arrived, they smashed out a window n the right side of the van and an officer entered the van to find the body.
The vehicle was towed to WPD headquarters for further investigation.
“The entire staff here at Early’s on Park Avenue, Inc., would like to offer their deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends. We would like to thank our customers and friends for reaching out to us during this difficult time,” Early said in his post. “We will not have any further comments at this time and would like to direct any questions to the Worcester Police Department. Thank you.”
