WORCESTER – There are more than 70 active unsolved murders and missing persons cases being investigated by the Worcester Police Department. These homicide and missing persons cases cover nearly 70 years from 1951 to 2019.

Melendez was last seen returning her work van to Sani-Mate on Shrewsbury Street. UPDATE: Forensic evidence is currently being tested.

52 year old male was murdered on 7-11-79 while working at his liquor store at 82 Millbury Street by three unknown suspects. The perpetrators were not caught and the case went unsolved. In 2003 while reviewing the evidence in this case, Lieutenant David Grady located latent prints, which were developed from a carton of cigarettes that were dropped by the killer during the shooting. These latent prints were not mentioned in the written narratives.

One of the suspects dropped his brown seal colored felt hat, size 7 Skyline model made by Merrimac Hat Co. of Amesbury, MA.
