Worcester Urgent Care Center Offering COVID-19 Antibody Test

WORCESTER – The American Family Care [AFC] urgent care center on Stafford St. in Worcester is now offering the COVID-19 antibody test.

Appointments are not required for the antibody test and results will be available to patients within a few days of testing.

“The test will be able to tell if patients have antibodies to the novel coronavirus, which could indicate that they have had COVID-19 in the past,” said Dr. Vincent Meoli, regional medical director of AFC. “The more information we have about who has been exposed, the more we will know about how much COVID-19 has spread through the population.”

Patients requesting the test will be asked to fill out a symptoms questionnaire before the testing. The antibody test is typically covered by insurance.

Dr. Meoli said, “It’s important to note that a positive result to the antibody test does not mean a patient has immunity. We don’t know if patients can contract the virus again; that’s still being studied.”

AFC will also return to their normal hours on Saturday, May 2 from 8 AM to 5 PM and on weekdays from 8 AM to 8 PM. Online check-in and current wait times are available at AFCUrgentCareWorcester.com.
