Worcester Police Arrest Two for Break-In, Credit Card Fraud

WORCESTER – Two Worcester residents face larceny and fraud charges after an overnight automobile break-in on Heywood St.

Police dispatched to a Heywood St. residence 8:40 AM on Saturday morning, June 12, in response to an overnight break-in of an automobile.

The victim reported a credit card transaction at CVS on Grafton St processed since the break-in.

The officer reviewed surveillance video at CVS and identified a man and woman that purchased phones. Both the price and time of the transaction matched the victim’s records of the illegal purchase.

Pictures of the two suspect, from the CVS surveillance camera, led to identifying George Carreau, 38, and Tara Newman, 39, both of Worcester, as the individuals who purchased the phones.

Police located Both Carreau and Newman at the bus terminal at Foster St. shortly after 10 AM and placed both under arrest. Newman had an active warrant for her arrest.

Both Carreau and Newman each face charges of:

  • Larceny from a Motor Vehicle
  • Larceny under $1,200
  • Possession of a Stolen Credit Card
  • Identity Fraud
