WORCESTER – The owner of Milford’s Depot Street Tavern — and former Worcester’s Best Chef winner — is expanding his culinary reach into Worcester’s Canal District.
According to the Massachusetts Corporation Database, Adam Hicks, of Uxbridge, is listed as the manager of Maddie’sWorcester LLC – the organization opening a restaurant at 64 Water St. in Worcester — the former home of The Perfect Game, a sports bar and restaurant which closed its doors in Sept. 2016.
Hicks is opening up Maddi’s – a cookery and TapHouse – named after his two children, Matthew and Addison.
On Friday morning, Hicks posted on his Depot St. Tavern Facebook page the following:
“We’re growing!!!! I’m happy to announce that after 40 months on Depot st and with the backing of an amazing staff, family and costumer ‘s who continue to support my dream were opening a sister restaurant, Named after my two kids Matthew and Addison!!! Maddi’s Cookery and TapHouse at 64 Water st. In Worcester Is going to truly be a neighborhood hood establishment!
Depot St. Tavern isn’t going anywhere but will continue to grow as we continue to add the best culinary team , waitstaff and managers we can find in the area!!!”
Hicks signed the certificate of organization in early November. The property at 64 Water St. is owned by Baystate Investment Fund LLC — which is run by Edward Murphy, of Westborough, who also owns WeRENTcentralmass.com, and 7 Hill Property Management.
Baystate Investment Fund purchased the property from Mendel Block LLC in 2015 for $647,369, according to documents from the City of Worcester.
The space was formerly leased by The Perfect Game owner Michael Erlich and his partners — who currently own Whiskey on Water which opened in early 2016 and sits across the street at 97 Water St.
Hicks serves as both owner and chef of the Depot St. Tavern which he opened in 2014. The restaurant is open every day except for Tuesday, and serves breakfast on Saturday and Sundays. It is well-regarded as having a relaxed atmosphere and serving classic pub-fare along with home cooked-style entrees.
Hicks won the People’s Choice Award at the 2016 Worcester’s Best Chef Competition with his Homemade Porketta Ravioli.
