WORCESTER – Two men were arrested on Gates St. in Worcester early Monday morning after being found trying to conceal a loaded revolver in a vehicle.
According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], officers responded to the area of a car accident on Florence St. in which one driver had fled the scene.
Witnesses saw the driver running away and police officers began searching the area for the driver. One officer pulled behind a black Toyota Corolla and the operator of the Corolla sped up in an attempt to get away from the officer. The officer was able to eventually stop the vehicle at the intersection of Gates and Hollis streets.
The occupants of the vehicle — Travis Tolson, 27, of Truro St. and Deon Barber, 47, of Norfolk St. — were arrested after officers witnessed the men attempting to hide what later turned out to be a loaded revolver underneath the driver’s seat.
Neither man had a license to carry a firearm. They were placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Firearm without an FID, Carrying Ammunition without an FID, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
They will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
