WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Department [WPD] is investigating a crash between a bicyclist and a motor vehicle that occurred on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Southbridge and Madison streets.
According to the WPD, officers were called around 6 PM and located the injured bicyclist who was already receiving medical aid. The bicyclist was brought to the hospital by EMS with a shoulder and possible head injury.
The initial findings of the investigation revealed that a Hyundai Elantra struck the bicyclist while going through a green light at the intersection. The bicyclist had a red light, but failed to stop and entered the intersection without braking.
The bicyclist and motor vehicle struck one another in the driver’s side front and center of the motor vehicle. The bicyclist went up onto the hood, striking the windshield and then coming to rest on Southbridge Street. The bicyclist received attention from a doctor who was passing by.
The bicyclist’s injuries are not fatal, and the crash is under investigation.
