WPD Investigating Tuesday Night’s Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Grafton St

WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Department [WPD] is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Tuesday night on Grafton St and took the life of a 20-year-old woman.

According to the WPD, officers were dispatched to the area of 1039 Grafton St on Tuesday evening and upon arrival they found a pedestrian victim, Gabriella Lowell, unconscious in the roadway. A blue Nissan Pathfinder was stopped near Lowell. An ambulance took Lowell to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The WPD Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and the preliminary investigation revealed that the Pathfinder was driven by a 21-year-old male heading northwest on Grafton St. Lowell was crossing in a marked crosswalk when she was struck on her right side with the front bumper.

The crash remains under investigation.
