36-Year-Old Man Convicted of Fitchburg Murder in 2016

WORCESTER – A jury in Worcester District Court convicted a New Jersey man of first degree murder on Thursday, August 5, in the killing of a Fitchburg man in 2016.

The jury found Jose Crespo, 36, of Newark, NJ, guilty of murder, home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, two counts of kidnapping, armed robbery while masked and arson. He faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

The judge scheduled a sentencing for Crespo for Tuesday.

The December 3, 2016 home invasion on Laurel Street in Fitchburg led to the death of Kevin O. Cabrera-Soto, 24. Cabrera-Soto’s girlfriend and her 7-year-old son escaped a fire set at the residence.

Romon Millan, 42, of Bridgeport, CT, previously pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the case. He is serving a life sentence.

Wilfredo Muniz, 36, of Bridgeport, CT, pleaded guilty to intimidation of a witness in the case. He served probation.
