Schools have been closed for weeks and your children may be looking for new activities to get them engaged.

ThisWeekinWorcester.com has compiled a list of creative ideas to entertain and educate your children. With this list of activities to inspire your children, your little ones will be excited to learn and play while at home!

Create an important plan.

Prepare your children for any situation with Mass.gov’s suggestion to create and practice an escape plan in case of a fire. Draw out the plan with the children and let them point out two possible exits for each room. Make sure to schedule two drills and arrange a meeting place outside in case of an emergency.

Get out the paper and pencils for a drawing lesson the kids will not want to miss!

Dav Pilkey, the creator of the children’s series Captain Underpants and the Dog-Man graphic novel series, is streaming virtual drawing classes. Tune in every Friday at 8 AM to bring your cartoons to life.

Make play time great with Union Square Play.

Union Square Play is an early learning center located in New York City. They recognized that families are home together during this difficult time and may need educational and entertaining resources for their children. Inspire learning and fun with Union Square Play’s puppet shows, music, videos, and more on their site.

Cook up a family treat!

Learn scrumptious recipes and bond with your family with Delish’s free “Kids + Parents” cooking videos.

Delish’s editorial director Joanna Saltz and her kids go live on Instagram every week day at 1 PM. They are streaming cook-along videos and they post an ingredient list beforehand and the video will be available to watch on their Instagram for 24 hours.

Get out all your children’s energy even on rainy days!

If you can’t work out outside, then turn on a “work in”! Planet Fitness has readjusted their programs, so everyone can have access to fitness at home. Every day at 7 PM, trainers are posting workout videos for people of all abilities and ages. Get the kids moving and tired out every night.
