In today’s edition – Friday, September 25 – there are several upcoming free COVID-19 testing in Worcester, RMV extends exclusive hours for those 75 and older, MA Stem Week announced for October, Suzette Crêperie & Café is hosting a ribbon cutting and Insomnia Cookies introduces the Big & Lil’ Dipper.

Free COVID-19 Testing in Worcester

Free walk-up testing for the COVID-19 virus will take place in four upcoming locations.

Thursday, Sept. 24, 1 PM to 5 PM
Community Healthlink, 72 Jaques Ave.
Free COVID-19 testing, Flu shots available with insurance.

Monday, Sept. 28, 12 PM to 4 PM
Main South Community Development Corporation, 875 Main St.
Flu shots available with insurance.

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2 PM to 6 PM
City Hall Common, 455 Main St.
Flu shots available with insurance.

Thursday, Oct. 1, 1 PM to 5 PM
Community Healthlink, 72 Jaques Ave.

No appointments are necessary, and a free mask and hand sanitizer will be provided with tests.

All attendees are reminded to wear a mask or face covering and to maintain social distancing.

The services are part of the Massachusetts “Stop the Spread” campaign and sponsored by the City of Worcester and UMass Memorial Healthcare COVID-19 Equity Task Force, including Worcester Interfaith.

 

RMV Extends Designated Appointment Hours for Customers Age 75 and Older

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV)  is extending designated Wednesday appointment hours for customers 75 years of age or older into October and to additional Service Center locations, including Worcester.

The program begins in Worcester on October 7.

The RMV began the service option in early September.

Eleven additional Service Centers will begin to dedicate Wednesdays to customers 75 years of age or older whose driver’s license or ID card expire in September and October, including customers whose licenses/IDs were extended from March, April, May and June and are due to expire soon.

Locations in Danvers, Leominster, New Bedford, South Yarmouth, Springfield and Watertown, will continue to take part in the program.

Locations in Brockton, Fall River, Lawrence, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, North Adams, Pittsfield, Plymouth and Revere will begin the program on October 7. Greenfield will begin October 14.

 

Stem Week is October 19-23

The office of Governor Charlie Baker announced that this year’s statewide STEM Week will be from October 19-23.

This will be the third annual year of the effort to promote strengthening STEM education in the Commonwealth’s K-12 schools.

There will be a mix of virtual and in-person events, lessons, speaker panels, and design challenges, all adapted for the new school and work environments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The week’s activities include collaborations with Museum of Science, WPI STEM Education Center and several others.

Suzette Crêperie & Café Ribbon Cutting

On Tuesday, September 29, Suzette Crêperie & Café will celebrate its opening in the Canal District at 3:30 PM.

The cafe is at 126 Water St., the former location of Weintraub’s Deli.

The family-owned business, co-owned by Jean-Luc Wittner and his wife Evelyn Darling, is an authentic French crêperie serving savory and sweet crêpes with gluten free and vegan options, coffee drinks and pastries.

The café offers indoor and outdoor seating as well as takeout.

Current hours of operation: Tuesday-Thursday 5 PM to 8 PM; Friday 12 PM to 1:30 PM. and 5 PM to 8 PM; Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 4 PM.

Operating hours eventually will be extended to include lunch Tuesday-Thursday and brunch on the weekends with a special brunch menu.

 

Insomnia Cookies Introduces Big & Lil’ Dippers

Insomnia cookies have rolled out a dunkable snack, but this is well beyond a donut with coffee.

The new Big Dippers is Four Classic Chocolate Chunk or Galaxy cookies made for dunking in buttercream icing. If that isn’t enough, add toppings to your icing!

Too big? They have a Lil’ dipper option with the classic cookie or the Galaxy Minis, which are available for a limited time.

The Big and Lil’ Dippers are now available in store, for local delivery and pickup and for nationwide shipping at the Insomnia Cookies website.
