Second Annual Worcester Preservation Awards are Tonight

The second annual Worcester Preservation awards are being held tonight virtually.

The event — presented by Preservation Worcester and the Worcester Historical Commissionhighlights the outstanding preservation, rehabilitation and restoration projects that bring new life to historic buildings and foster exciting development in the City.

The ceremony will take place at 5:30 PM virtually here. The event is free and open to the public.

 

 

Shrewsbury Police Department Annual Toy Drive on December 12

The Shrewsbury Police Department is hosting its Annual Toy Drive on Saturday, December 12, from 9 AM to noon.

The event will be drive-thru at the Shrewsbury Police Department at 106 Maple Ave.

This year they are asking for toys to benefit the local community to be distributed through the amazing staff at Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services.

They are also asking for gift cards, paper products, laundry care supplies, and personal hygiene items to fulfill the needs of those receiving assistance through Saint Anne’s Human Services.

Worcester Railers Drive-Thru Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive

The Worcester Railers will host a Drive-Thru Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive benefiting Friendly House of Worcester on Saturday, December 19 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center at 112 Harding St.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the event; Railers stuffed animals will also be available for purchase onsite at a discounted price of $10.

Participants will drive through the Ice Center parking lot and – without leaving their vehicles – throw their stuffed animals into a giant inflatable goal.

Railers mascot Trax and the Worcester Fire Department’s mascot Sparky will be in attendance, along with members of the Franklin Street Fire Station.

 

Worcester Auto Repair Shop Giving Away $500 in Repairs

For the second year in a row, Premier Auto Repair, located at 783 West Boylston St. in Worcester, is giving $500 in automotive repairs to someone in need this holiday season.

The winner will be chosen among nominations submitted before December 23.
