In today’s edition – Friday, August 26 – the Worcester Police Department Gang Unit completes its five-week youth camp, there are free wagon rides in the Canal District in September, the Auburn Police Department is hiring a full-time dispatcher, QCC offers a free online course in child growth and development, and the Hanover Theatre Youth Ballet Company auditions are coming up.

Worcester Police Department 2022 GANG Camp

The Worcester Police Department Gang Unit recently completed a five-week camp at the Worcester Boys and Girls Club and Great Brook Valley.

Gang Unit officers spent time with hundreds of young people at places like the Worcester Ice Center, the EcoTarium, JMAC Worcester, the Botanical Garden at Tower Hill, and more. There was a party with ice cream and bounce houses, and an appearance from the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing helicopter to conclude the camp.

Free Canal District Wagon Tours in September

Free wagon tours will be available in the Canal District every Thursday in September.

From 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM each Thursday, tours will begin every 30 minutes at Picket Plaza at 45 Green Street.

Auburn Police Hiring Experienced Dispatcher

The Auburn Police Department is hiring a full time 911 emergency dispatcher. The ideal candidate has prior Public safety agency experience.

The position requires to certifications in Police/Fire telecommunications, E-911, Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR Certification, APCO PST1 and LEAPS/CJIS.

QCC Offers Free Course in Child Development and Growth

Quinsigamond Community College is offering a free, online course, Child Development and Growth, starting on September 7. The course is self-paced. There is no specific meeting time, but students must complete call course work as assigned by the instructor.

Hanover  Theatre Youth Ballet Auditions

The Hanover Theatre Youth Ballet Company will hold open auditions on Tuesday Aug. 30, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

These auditions are open to the public and outside dancers are encouraged to audition. Dancers must be between the ages of 10-20 years old.
