In today’s daily 5 Things You Need to Know feature, ThisWeekinWorcester.com explores five important items and stories that Worcester and Central Massachusetts residents should keep a close eye on.

These five things can cover a whole range of subjects and issues that we feel are pertinent to understanding what’s going on in the city and the cities and towns surrounding Worcester.

In today’s edition – Monday, July 11 – check out the Worcester Public Schools summer food truck schedule, Worcester Emergency Management starts Summer Learning Series, Tennis in the Parks starts on Thursday, the Hanover Theatre is hosting a Holiday Preview Party this month and the first week of the Mass Youth Soccer Goals Program starts today.

Worcester Public Schools Summer Food Truck Schedule

Now through August 26, the Worcester Public Schools Summer Food Truck is providing meal services Monday through Friday at 25 locations throughout the city.

Breakfast is offered at 15 of the locations, lunch is offered at 13 locations and supper is offered at 12 locations listed below. The Summer Food Truck starts the day at the Greendale YMCA and Shore Park at 7:40 AM and ends the day at the Greenwood Street Spray Park at 4:45 PM.

Worcester Emergency Management Starts Summer Learning Series

Earlier this month, Worcester Emergency Management started a Summer Learning Series on social media, posting a new video discussing the city’s 9-1-1 Center and how 9-1-1 emergency calls work.

Tennis in the Parks Starts Thursday at Institute Park

The Tennis in the Parks program will be run this summer at Institute Park starting on Thursday.

Three programs will run at Institute Park each hour from 5 PM to 8 PM:

  • Grades 1-2 (Red Ball) – 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Grades 3-5 (Orange Ball) – 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Grades 6-8 (Green Ball) – 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Each program is an hour long. The programs runs from July 14 to Aug. 18.

Up to 10 children can participate in each program. The cost is $60 for Worcester residents. For program questions, email: [email protected]. For general questions, email: [email protected].

Hanover Theatre Hosting a Holiday Preview Party on July 25

The Hanover Theatre is celebrating Christimas in July with a Holiday Preview Party on July 25.

The party will feature costumes from the productions of A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker and members of the Christmas Carol performing some of their favorite holiday songs and a singalong.

Guests will also be able to check out their seats for the 2022-2023 Broadway Series and find out more about our new Broadway Social Circle. Attendees will also receive an exclusive offer for 25% off tickets to The Nutcracker.

Mass Youth Soccer Goals Program Starts Today

Mass Youth Soccer is hosting a free  soccer program at Glodis Field on Providence Street in Worcester starting today.

The program runs Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM and is open to children entering grades 3 to 6 in the fall.

Registration is closed for this week’s program but spots are still open for the weeks of July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1.
