In today’s edition – Monday, July 18 –  the Worcester Red Sox have the best attendance in minor league baseball this season, online registration for the 2022 George Street bike challenge ends on Friday, Disney on Ice returns to the DCU Center, the Worcester Center for Crafts’ Hot Night in the City is Friday, and That’s Entertainment is hosting a “Creature Double Feature” at the Elm Draught House.

WooSox Have Top Attendance in Minor League Baseball

The Worcester Red Sox have the best attendance this season across the Minor League Baseball system, welcoming 339,937 fans to Polar Park as of July 11.  Next is Nashville, welcoming 322,126 fans as of July 11.

The WooSox average attendance per opening this season is 7,390, good for sixth in the country among all 120 Minor League teams.

The WooSox’ next homestand is a three-game series starting July 22 against the Syracuse Mets.

Below is the average attendance for the Top 10 teams in Minor League Baseball through July 11.  All are Triple-A clubs with the exception of Single-A Dayton.

Online Registration for the 2022 George Street Challenge Ends Friday

The Major Taylor Association is hosting the 2022 George Street Bike Challenge on July 24.

As it does each year, the 18th edition George Street Bike Challenge for Major Taylor will take place at George Street and Main Street in Worcester.

The last day to register online is 5 PM on Friday, July 22. You can register online here. Participants can also register on race day paying cash. Cash registration on race day opens at 8:30 AM. The cost to participate is $20. Spectators can watch the contest for free.

Major Taylor, “the Worcester Whirlwind,” made his mark on George Street in the 1890s and is the inspiration for the George Street Challenge. The contest is one rider at a time against the clock and is open to ages 12 and up.

Disney on Ice Returns to the DCU Center with ‘Frozen’ and ‘Encanto’

The all-new Disney On Ice presents “Frozen & Encanto” is playing the DCU Center from Oct. 27 through Oct. 30

Worcester Center for Crafts’ Hot Night in the City is Friday

Mark your calendars. The Worcester Center for Crafts’ Hot Night in the City is back on Friday, July 22 from 4 PM to 9 PM, hosting over 50 local artists and craftspeople.

The party will feature live music from Jubilee Gardens, Paul Courcahine and the Southeast Asian Coalition. There will also be an ice cream, wine and beer garden featuring Redemption Rock Brewing Co., Decanted Wine Truck and Mooving Cow ice cream.

Hot Night in the City will be the opening night for “Artists on Fire” curated by Juniper Rag, in the Krikorian Gallery at 4 pm. The show will run until Aug. 6.  “Artists on Fire” will feature artists, showing three pieces of work with all art for sale at $200.

That’s Entertainment Hosting “Creature Double Feature” at Elm Draught House

That’s Entertainment is hosting a free “Creature Double Feature” on Aug. 1 at the Elm Draught House in Millbury. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the movies start at 7 PM.

Free tickets are now available at That’s Entertainment at 244 Park Ave. in Worcester. One ticket per person. Tickets will not be available at the Elm Draught House.
