WORCESTER  – A 25-year-old Worcester man was arrested on Monday after robbing people inside a Richard St. apartment at gunpoint.

According to the Worcester Police Department [WPD], around 11 AM, officers were called to the Richard St. address for a report of a home invasion in progress.

Police received information that a possible suspect had left the area in a black SUV. Officers located the matching vehicle at the intersection of Richard and Cambridge St. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the operator sped off. Again, officers followed the vehicle and the SUV hopped a curb and stopped on a lawn near Marble St. at Main St.

The operator of the vehicle — Juan Toro, 25, of Great Brook Valley Ave — jumped on the hood of a police cruiser and ran away.

Officers caught up with Toro on Marble St. After a struggle, he was placed under arrest and in handcuffs. Officers discovered a BB gun in the SUV and various pills on Toro. He didn’t have a prescription for the pills.

Toro is charged with Failure to Stop For the Police, Operating to Endanger, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Possession of Class E, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class E, and Possession of Class C.

He will be arraigned. The home invasion is still under investigation.
