71-Year-Old Barre Man Indicted for Murder

WORCESTER – Robert Leger, 71, of Barre, will face murder charges following an indictment handed down by a Worcester County Grand Jury on Friday, December 18.

Ledger is being held without access to bail.

Ledger’s arrest came on September 4, after police found the body of his landlord, 65-year-old Michael Hannon, with multiple gunshot wounds at the address they shared in Barre.

Ledger faces the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
  • Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
  • Failure to secure a Firearm
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID Card
  • Possession of a Rifle or Shotgun without an FID Card

The indictments move the case from East Brookfield District Court to Worcester Superior Court.

Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr.’s office announced the indictments on Monday, December 21.

The case is being investigated by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Barre Police.
