Two Worcester Men Arrested on Gun Charges in Canton

CANTON – Two Worcester men were arrested by Massachusetts State Police [MSP] troopers early on Saturday morning, July 21.

MSP Troopers found Ernest Appiah, 26, and Philip Mintah, 31, outside a 2015 Mercedes that had been crashed some 30 feet into the woods on the side of Route 95 in Canton. 

When State Troopers arrived the men were outside the vehicle screaming at those who had stopped to assist them. Neither man admitted being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

After discovering a single round of ammunition on the passenger side floor a K9 unit was called to the scene.

A 9mm Springfield XD was discovered shortly after the search began. Neither man is licensed to carry a firearm. 

After being placed under arrest, a small amount of cocaine was discovered in Mintah’s pocket. 

Both men were charged with possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, improper storage of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card and witness intimidation.

Mintah was also charged with possession of a class B substance.
