A group of 350 Americans evacuated from the the center of the Novel Coronavirus [2019-nCoV] outbreak in Wuhan, China today. They are being quarantined Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego and Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento.

Two more flights with US citizens are expected to be evacuated from Wuhan. Those Americans will be quarantined at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and Eppley Airfield in Omaha.

The Center for Disease Control [CDC] has released a video showing an overview of the screening process Americans coming from China will undergo.

See the CDC Video Below:

The Center for Disease Control [CDC] has confirmed eleven cases of 2019-nCoV in the United States. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health [DPH] has confirmed one case of a Boston area man.

More than 24,600 cases have been reported worldwide, including 492 related deaths as of Tuesday, February 5. The World Health Organization [WHO] reports 191 cases in 25 countries and two deaths outside China. Neither death has been in the United States.

The CDC suggests people should be aware of subjective fever, cough, or difficulty breathing. Those who have fever and cough develop into difficulty breathing are advised to limit contact with others and seek a health care professional by phone for further recommendations.

The CDC also recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses,

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
