60-Year-Old Motorcycle Rider Killed in Dudley Crash

DUDLEY – A crash on Southbridge Road (Route 131) in Dudley on Saturday, April 23, led to the death of a 60-year-old man and the road closed for over two hours.

At round 3:30 PM, Dudley Police, Fire, and emergency services responded to a crash involving a white Mercedes-Benz SE and a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The initial investigation indicates the Mercedes was exiting a driveway when the crash took place.

The motorcycle operator, James Joseph Thompson, 60, of Dudley, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Dudley police report that man died as a result of his injuries.

The Mercedes driver, a 17-year-old male from Dudley, was also transported to the hospital. He suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The roadway was reopened around 7 PM on Saturday.

Dudley police released the name of Thompson on Monday, April 25. The crash remains under investigation.

Updated on April 25 to add the name of James Joseph Thompson when released by Dudley police. Dudley police also corrected Thompson’s age and the make and model of the juvenile’s vehicle on the same day.
