High School Athletes, Local Leader Hoop for Charity

WORCESTER - Dunk Cancer, a benefit for the YMCA and to raise cancer awareness, drew over 500 people to Kneller Gymnasium at Clark University on Saturday for three basketball games featuring local high school teams, followed by a game featuring local leaders.

The leaders game saw Team American Pyramids, led by Anthony Barbosa, one of the organizers of the event, face Team Michelangelo's Barbershop, led Michelangelo Mangual, owner of Michelangelo's Barbershop at 138 Green St. in Worcester.

American Pyramids took a lead early in the game, led by Woo League founder Kamal Walker, taking a 13 point lead into the half. Team Michelangelo's make a comeback in the second half, capped off with a three-point field goal by former Worcester State University standout Maurice Horton with 15 seconds left in the second half, to send the game to overtime.

Team Michelangelo's won by seven points after the overtime session.

In the earlier high school games, Burncoat High School won against Main South, Doherty claimed a victory over Worcester Tech and North High School defeated South High School.
